November 4, 2003: Don Mattingly has agreed to become the New York Yankees' hitting coach! He is back in pinstripes!!!
June 3, 2003: Don Mattingly's son, Taylor Patrick, was selected by the New York Yankees in the 42nd round of the amateur draft!
January 13, 2003: Don Mattingly and Cal Ripken announce that they have purchased minority shares in the minor league team, South Georgia Waves, and will move them to Evansville, Indiana for the 2004 season.

February 21, 2002: Don Mattingly was taken to a hospital Today after hurting his back during a spring training drill. Don was expected to stay overnight at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. He is a Yankees' guest instructor this spring. ``He was doing some flip drills and his back locked up,'' manager Joe Torre said. ``He's getting some tests.''

February 9, 2000: Don Mattingly confirmed that he will arrive in Florida for spring training with the New York Yankees as an instructor on February 27. He is expected to be there approximately three weeks.
January 27, 2000: Don Mattingly confirmed that he will be attending spring training with the New York Yankees as an instructor. He has even suggested that he would like to be a full-time hitting instructor, and he might even consider managing in the future. Could this be Joe Torre's replacement when he decides to retire?

October 7, 1999: Don Mattingly was at Yankee Stadium to throw out the first pitch in the second game of the Divisional series playoffs against the Texas Rangers. He threw a perfect toss to catcher Jim Leyritz. During the game he sat in a luxury box with actor Billy Crystal and watched the game.
August 14, 1999: Don Mattingly was at Washington, PA for his Taylor's appearance in the Pony World Series. He will be there until Taylor's team wins the championship or until his team is eliminated.

July 18, 1999: Don Mattingly was at Yankee Stadium today for Yogi Berra Day. He presented Yogi with replicas of the 10 World Series rings that Yogi won during his illustrious career. In addition, David Cone pitched a perfect game for the crowd!! Congratulations David!!
July 15, 1999: Don Mattingly will be one of the guests at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, July 18 for Yogi Berra Day. Ceremonies begin at 1:15 PM.

October 18, 1998: Although it was announced that Don Mattingly would throw out the first pitch of the second game of the World Series, it did not happen. Instead, the family of Roger Maris had the honor. He is still scheduled to for a live chat on Tuesday.

April 24, 1998: More information on Don's Autograph signing session. It will be held at Bally's in Atlantic City, NJ. Don will be signing Saturday, June 13 from 11 am until 2 pm. Prices are as follows: Flats/Balls $65. Other Equipment $75. Bats/Jerseys $125.

On a sad note, one of Don's horses from the Diamond Five Farms, "Oh My!B.S." passed away. Our deepest condolences go out to Don and his family.

April 15, 1998: Don Mattingly will participate in the 1998 Heroes In Pinstripes Fantasy Camp that will be held November 1-8, 1998 at the Fort Lauderdale Spring Training Complex. Don will be one of many former Yankees participating, including a reunion of the 1961 World Champions Yankees' infield!!
March 12, 1998: Don Mattingly's Official Site has added the THIRD Real Audio Radio Show!!! The first 2 (from 1996) were 'lost' when the old server that was used crashed, but this new show will be a regular thing. This one, recorded 3/11/98, is approx. 36 minutes long and Don talks about many things including Spring Training, both past and present. Well worth the time!!! It is excellent!!!!
February 16, 1998: Don Mattingly's Official Site has undergone some changes in the past few weeks. A Chat area has been added as well as 2 areas where the fans can post their comments and discussions!! An weekly Online auction of items that were once in Mattingly's 23 restaurant started in Mid-January and has raised a good deal of money for charity. Don Mattingly was also recently honored at an award's dinner in New York and was honored as 'Personality of the Year'. Rumors still swirl about what Mattingly's future holds, but no firm stance has been taken yet. More to come soon.
January 26, 1998: Don Mattingly was awarded the 'Sports Personality of the Year' award by Coca-Cola Bottling. The dinner and reception was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Rochester, NY.

October 25, 1997: The text on Don Mattingly's official Web Site has changed again, It now displays the text "Sorry, the site is temporarily off-line." and the counter and copyright info has returned! I have learned the that the reason for the shut-down is that Cool Classifieds, which was a partner in the web-site has pulled the plug because they have not made enough money on it. Don is very excited about being on the Internet and is working to find another partner so his site can return.
October 24, 1997 (PM): Don Mattingly's official Web Site now displays the single line of text "Don has decided to discontinue his website." This is very disturbing news and I will find out exact details why!

August 31, 1997: Don Mattingly was at Yankee Stadium where his number 23 was retired by the New York Yankees.

April 24, 1997: Don Mattingly was in Fort Worth, Texas to join Mariott officials at the Fossil Creek Courtyard for a fund-raising event at the Grand Opening of the Courtyard's 300th hotel.

April 11, 1997: Opening Day at Yankee Stadium. In a pre-game ceremony before the game, Don, along with Yankee manager Joe Torre and New York Mayor Rudolph Guiliani, raise the Yankees 23rd World Series Championship Flag!
March 21, 1997: Don Mattingly Day is officially announced as August 31, 1997. Don's number will be retired in a ceremony before the 1:30 PM game against the Montreal Expos.
January 27, 1997: Don Mattingly was presented with a special award by Bernie Williams on behalf of the Children's Health Fund for the work Don has done over the past ten years.
January 22, 1997: Yesterday's rumors were proven correct. At a press conference today at Yankee Stadium, Don Mattingly offically announced that he will retire from baseball. Among those present at the news conference were Don, his wife and children, George Steinbrenner, Joe Torre, and David Cone. George Steinbrenner also announced that Don's number 23 will be retired at a ceremony later this year.
January 21, 1997: Rumors abound among the Sports Radio stations that Don will announce his retirement at a press conference tomorrow. The Yankees have called a 3:00 PM news conference for tomorrow, but have not specified what it is for.
